Pastor David L. Everson, Sr.
Pastor David L. Everson Sr. is the nineteenth child born to Shelly and Martha Everson of Richmond, Texas. At the age of twelve, he accepted Christ and was baptized by the late Rev. Willie Turner, Pastor, of Pageville Baptist Church. As a young man he became well known for his singing talent. Pastor Everson is married to Pat Lindsey Everson. They have been married for forty-two years. God has blessed them with two sons, Rev. David L. Everson, Jr. and Timothy P. Everson.
In 1977, Pastor Everson accepted his calling from God to preach the uncompromising Gospel of Jesus Christ under the leadership of the late Rev. Leon Stewart, Pastor of Spring Green Baptist Church of Foster, Texas, He preached his first sermon on Sunday, February 6, 1977.
In 1978, Pastor Everson accepted the spiritual calling to lead the flock of Elion Zion Baptist Church, of Rosharon, Texas. Under his leadership and vision, the church experienced growth and major facility restorations. Pastor Everson’s teaching, preaching and out-reaching initiatives were noteworthy. While at Elion Zion, Pastor Everson attended Enterprise Seminary of Houston, Texas.
In1985, being led by the Holy Spirit, Pastor Everson commenced his pastorate at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, of Rosenberg, Texas. Pastor Everson’s leadership, spiritual vision, and divine principles led the people to a renewed spirit of their evangelical responsibilities; many lost souls were won.
In 1992, under the auspices of the National Baptist Convention of America Inc., Pastor Everson traveled extensively with the late Rev. Hayward Wiggins, Pastor, Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church of Houston, Texas. Pastor Everson evangelized throughout many states bringing lost souls to Christ.
In 1995, Pastor Everson accepted the call to lead the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, of Brookshire, Texas. His emphasis on biblical studies and community out- reach were the cornerstones of his pastorate.
In 1999, Pastor Everson was installed as the tenth Pastor of the historic First Union Baptist Church of Galveston, Texas. Under his leadership, a community based school, FUBC Community Resource Center, opened in 2005. In addition, major renovations; and church growth are unparalleled in the church’s 145 year history. The church is deeply involved in community relations and community affairs. FUBC is an active member of the Galveston Historical Foundation.
Pastor Everson’s vision is that First Union Baptist Church be the “Beacon of the Community”. Pastor Everson continues to strive for a higher goal and purpose for the First Union Baptist Church through the word of God.
